Our Downpatrick clinic is the main hub of Downe Vets. From this clinic we cater to all large and small animals.

We offer a range of preventative treatments and our staff work very hard to maintain the health and wellbeing of your animals.

MEET THE DVC FAMILY

Cahir King  qualified as a Veterinary Surgeon in 2004  from Trinity College, University of Cambridge. Cahir has worked in Downe Vets since graduating, he has also contributed his time to Veterinary Clinics in England and Ireland. Cahir is very interested in surgery as well as Animal Welfare, Ethics and Law. Cahir is the only male staff member amongst our other very talented vets who keep him on his toes. When he isn’t in the clinic he is at home with his wife Louise and two children Isla and Gabriel

 

Daisy Dillon who qualified as a Veterinary Surgeon in 2017 from Cambridge University. Daisy is very passionate about all aspects of Veterinary Medicine, large or small. When Daisy isn’t helping your pets in our clinic or out on Farms, you will usually find her out and about on countryside walks with her four beautiful terriers. 

Veterinary Surgeon Jennie Bogie who qualified from University of Glasgow in 2014. Jennie like all our  vets is very dedicated and hard-working, she enjoys all aspects of Veterinary medicine, large and small animals. She has two happy terriers Dougal and Nessie, when Jennie isn’t caring for your animals she is at home with her Husband David and little girl Beatrix.

 Veterinary Surgeon Nuala Fitzsimons who qualified in 2013 from University College Dublin.  Nuala is one of our local vets, she excels at all aspects of Veterinary medicine and puts her heart and soul into treating all animals. When she isn’t working at the clinic she is out at her family farm with a helping hand from her daughter Aoife.

 

Veterinary Surgeon Anna Cunningham who qualified from Nottingham University in 2017 Anna is another one of our talented Veterinary surgeons, she is known for her positive attitude and caring nature. Anna is never afraid to get stuck into the hard work, she is dedicated to Veterinary medicine and loves all aspects of being a vet. When she isn’t at the clinic or on call you would usually find her at home with her handsome dog Basil.

Veterinary Surgeon Máire Mulholland who qualified in 2020  from University of Bristol. Máire is one our youngest vets and has a fun and loving charm about her. She enjoys helping all animals big or small, she has a passion for surgery. Maire’s favourite part of being a vet is ensuring all patients and clients are happy and healthy. Maire has a playful Spaniel called Echo who often comes into work with her.

General Manager and Head Nurse Hazel McKelvey (RVN) is our longest serving member of staff and  has been with the practice since 1999. Hazel is the heart and soul of Downe Veterinary Clinic and is well known for greeting clients with a kind smile. She also ensures everything runs smoothly behind the scenes so that our patients can receive the best care possible. In the photo you will see Hazel’s beautiful sidekick Poppy. 

Genevieve Morrison is part of our nursing team and has been with the practice since 2006. Genevieve can now be found organising the TB testing for our farmers and answering all your insurance queries, which she does alongside her other nursing roles within the clinic. When she isn’t working, she can be found at home with her husband and two handsome sons Jack and Tom.

Nurse Caitlan Connolly RVN who has been with the practice since 2016 and became a registered nurse in 2019. Caitlan is an RVN who works alongside the vets in theatre monitoring anaesthetic and providing inpatient care. Caitlan has a passion for looking after our hospitalised patients. Caitlan has two beautiful dogs called Lily (in image above) and Sage and a gorgeous horse called Havannah. Outside of work Caitlan takes part in shooting competitions and is married to a farmer which reflects on her passion for helping all animals big or small.

Tori Bradford is another member of our nursing team who has been with the practice since 2017. Tori provides the utmost in nursing care for your pets and has a real passion for all aspects of veterinary. She is a mum of 2 beautiful daughters Holly and Ella and the proud doggie mum of Charlie the chocolate labrador who she rescued from the clinic. 

Rachel Shannon who started at Downe Vets in 2018 doing work experience and fell in love with Veterinary. Rachel hopes to complete her Nursing training in the near future. Many clients will recognise Rachel for her kindness and welcoming attitude. She is always there to greet all animals that walk through the door. When Rachel isn’t at reception she is out the back helping the vets and nurses care for the inpatients. 

Lesley Kearney who works in the Downpatrick Clinic, Lesley is our receptionist in our busy Downpatrick Branch. Lesley greets each patient as they come through the door with a welcoming smile and a calming attitude, Lesley is very hands-on and does any job needed around the clinic. When Lesley isn’t working, she is usually out on walks around the local area with her 5  playful labradors and her Dachshund Archie. 

 Shauna Duggan who travels between the Newcastle and Downpatrick clinics. Shauna is a receptionist and ANA. Shauna has a passion for all animals, she herself has a variety including bearded dragon and horses. Shauna enjoys spending her time off living history reenactments, dressage and carriage driving. When she is at work she enjoys getting to know clients and their pets. 

 Megan Rogan who works in our Newcastle Clinic, Megan is another one of our ANA’s who hopes to complete her Veterinary nursing in Greenmount. Megan lives on a sheep farm at the foot of the Mournes and has two beautiful dogs Jessie and Dash.

Veterinary Surgeon Ellie McMullan qualified from Univeristy of Liverpool in 2022. From the moment Ellie started in Downe Vets she has jumped straight into both large and small animal work. Ellie has a passion for large animal work and is often first to volunteer on calls. When she isn’t in the clinic or working on call Ellie is hiking with her handsome greyhound Dougal or cuddling bluebell her pet blue faced leicester

 

Registered Veterinary Nurse Sarah Vennard joined the DVC team in 2022 after qualifying from Greenmount College of Agriculture. Sarah is known in the clinic for keeping our prep area organised and tidy, when a task needs completed Sarah is always first on the job. When Sarah is off work she spends most of her time with her two energetic dogs Annie and Milo and often enjoys working with large animals alongside her family.
